A Dream About Dystopia and Freedom

I am weaning off a particularly nasty drug called Venlor (a generic of Effexor) and last night I had a most interesting dream, which I believe was a good indication that I am doing the right thing.

The Dream:

I live in a Dystopian society. Everyone is controlled by a drug and by messages that flash up on a screen telling them what to do. The city I live in is located in a large shopping mall. Everyone is encouraged to buy, buy, buy.

The drug shuts down normal emotions, and also has an effect on the brain that alters the reality that everyone sees. The Mall appears light and made out of gold. Everyone appears super happy and friendly. It seems like the ideal world.

A small faction has sprung up, working to free people from the drug and move out of the Mall into a world outside its walls. This underground faction is banned and all who are found engaging with it, or attempting to leave The Mall are "extracted". No one knows what happens to them - they just disappear.

I realise that all is not as it seems in The Mall. This alone is enough to make contact with The Faction, who have arranged a date and time for those interested in being Liberated to be freed. Before freedom can occur, a detox of the drug is required. If we are still on the drug, we cannot pass through the barriers placed around The Mall keeping everyone prisoner. An envelope is given to me containing a card of pills as well as a sachet of Vitamin B, which I have to drink. I have to take all the pills at once to counter the effects of the drug we consume to live in The Mall.

I do this and I see The Mall for the prison it is. There is no gold and light and the people look like zombies.

The dream ends when I, with a group of others prepared for liberation, are met at the Outer Circle of The Mall by The Faction to begin our Liberation.
